Grange Close Wins - Housing Project of the Year – Medium- at the 2025 Building & Architect of the Year Awards for Ireland’s First 3DCP RMC Social Housing Scheme

HTL.tech is proud to announce that its Grange Close 3D Construction Printed (3DCP) Housing Development in Dundalk, Co. Louth, has won Housing Project of the Year – Medium at the 2025 Building & Architect of the Year Awards. This prestigious national recognition celebrates not only architectural and construction excellence but also the project’s significance as a national and international milestone in housing innovation.

Grange Close is the first social housing scheme in Ireland and Europe to be delivered using 3D Construction Printing technology with Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC)—a significant advancement in making additive construction more accessible, scalable, and cost-effective. Completed in December 2024 in partnership with Louth County Council, Roadstone Ltd. and Louth & Meath Education and Training Board, the development consists of three fully compliant, high-quality three-bedroom terraced homes.

The project was praised by industry leaders, including Emma Geoghegan, Head of Architecture at Technological University Dublin, who called it “a very meaningful project that truly deserved to be recognised,” noting its architectural clarity and the strong collaboration behind its success.

Grange Close stands apart for its demonstrated performance across time, quality, and compliance. HTL.tech’s innovative construction method reduced delivery time by 35% compared to traditional building methods. Each home achieved an A2 Building Energy Rating (BER), reflecting excellent thermal performance, and was fully compliant with Irish Building Regulations.

Designed and coordinated using Building Information Modelling (BIM) and constructed using concrete materials supplied by Roadstone Ltd., the homes serve as a replicable model for high-quality and efficient housing schemes. The project also became the first globally audited 3DCP housing scheme under the ISO/ASTM 52939:2023 standard—an internationally recognised benchmark for quality assurance in additive manufacturing for construction.

HTL.tech shares this award with a diverse and dedicated group of project partners whose collaboration was instrumental to the success of the development: Louth County Council, Roadstone Ltd., Louth & Meath Education & Training Board (LMETB), Harcourt Architects, Creagh Concrete, B&C Contractors Ltd., Munster Joinery, Tradecraft, GARLAND, VCL Consultants, CBA Consulting Engineers, CSD Engineering, MGM Partnership, Future Cast, Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre of Excellence (AMTCE), and McCann & Fitzgerald.

The project also served as a national training and research platform, strengthening local skills and innovation through HTL.tech’s role as the only licensed COBOD International A/S 3DCP trainer in Ireland and the UK. In collaboration with LMETB and AMTCE, the scheme helped build technical capacity within the construction sector and demonstrated the value of cross-sector collaboration in developing future-ready construction talent.

The Grange Close development has received widespread recognition. In addition to winning Housing Project of the Year – Medium at the Building & Architect of the Year Awards, it received the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) Standards Innovation Award in 2024, a High Commendation award for Innovation from the Irish Concrete Society Awards 2025, and the Small Projects Award with Dundalk Engineers CBA from the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). These accolades affirm the project’s architectural, structural, and technological significance and further establish HTL.tech as a leader in advancing construction innovation.

Justin Kinsella, Director of HTL.tech, said: I am very grateful and proud of our team and delighted to have such a prestigious award land in Louth. The technology allows us to provide extremely robust and efficient homes, and as demonstrated by this recognition of this award, it enables us to deliver very high-quality, humane architecture.”

HTL.tech remains committed to transforming the future of housing through the responsible deployment of 3D Construction Printing technology—providing efficient, affordable, and robust housing.
