Grange Close Wins MMC Project of the Year at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2025

On Friday evening, HTL.tech was honoured to receive the MMC Project of the Year award at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2025 for the Grange Close 3D Construction Printed Social Housing Project — a milestone moment for both our team and the wider Irish construction sector.

Delivered for Louth County Council, Grange Close represents a transformative step forward in how homes can be built in Ireland and across Europe. This project is Ireland’s first 3D-printed social housing development completed using 3D Construction Printing (3DCP) to deliver three terraced homes in Dundalk, Co. Louth.

The project’s success is built on the principles of speed, precision, and sustainability — key to the future of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). Completed 35% faster than traditional construction methods, Grange Close demonstrated that innovation and compliance can go hand-in-hand, setting a new benchmark for quality-assured, digitally enabled housing delivery.

The Grange Close development stands as a world-class example of how 3D Construction Printing can integrate seamlessly with Ireland’s regulatory framework and construction ecosystem.

It embodies a number of “firsts” that collectively define a pathway for the industry’s evolution:

  • First certified project in Ireland to deliver social housing using 3D Construction Printing.

  • First 3DCP project globally to achieve conformity with ISO/ASTM 52939:2023, the international standard for quality assurance in construction-scale additive manufacturing.

  • First use of Roadstone Ltd. Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) for 3D printing, demonstrating the potential for integration with existing national materials supply chains.

Each of these milestones underscores HTL’s commitment to not only introducing cutting-edge technology but embedding it within the frameworks of compliance, education, and industry readiness.

At the heart of the project’s success lies the spirit of collaboration. HTL.tech worked closely with an exceptional team of partners who shared our belief that innovation must be practical, compliant, and scalable to make a real impact on housing delivery.

A huge thank you to our project partners on the Grange Close project for Louth County Council — the first 3DCP social housing development in Ireland, delivered using Roadstone Ltd. RMC. Their partnership has laid the foundation for the future of housing delivery in Ireland:

Louth & Meath ETB, Harcourt Architects, GARLAND, B&C Contractors LTD, CBA Consulting Engineers, One Click LCA, VCL Consultants, Creagh Concrete, Munster Windows & Joinery, Tradecraft, Future Cast, MGM Partnership, CSD Engineering Limited, and McCann FitzGerald LLP.

The Grange Close project is more than a single development — it’s a proof of concept for what’s possible when innovation meets collaboration and regulation evolves to enable new technologies. It demonstrates how 3D Construction Printing can help meet the goals of Ireland’s Housing for All strategy by delivering high-quality, sustainable homes faster, with reduced material use and a lower carbon footprint.

As we look ahead, HTL.tech remains focused on scaling 3DCP for broader applications — from affordable housing and infrastructure to education and commercial builds — while continuing to uphold the standards of safety, quality, and sustainability that underpin every project we deliver.

Receiving the MMC Project of the Year award is a recognition of collective effort — of engineers, architects, educators, contractors, and suppliers who came together to demonstrate that Ireland can lead in construction innovation on a global scale.

It is also a reflection of a wider shift within the industry: one that values digital integration, environmental accountability, and workforce development as much as structural performance.

At HTL.tech, we are proud to be part of this transformation — not just building homes, but helping to shape a more sustainable and innovative future for construction.
